Canopy Commons
HOUSTON, TEXAS
Canopy Commons is a flexible indoor-outdoor co-working and café space designed to immerse daily life in nature. Framed by mature trees and layered gardens, the project blurs the boundary between work, rest, and community gathering, offering a green retreat in the heart of the city. The goal was to create a space that supports focused productivity, casual meetups, and quiet reflection, all connected to a shared natural spine.
The space is anchored by a timber-clad pavilion with operable walls that open fully to a shaded courtyard. Native landscaping, stone seating edges, and corten steel planters define zones for solo work, small gatherings, and café seating. A central boardwalk with integrated rain gardens, outdoor lighting, and wildflower beds encouraging movement and interaction. Every material and planting choice was made to reflect local ecology while offering a relaxed, design-forward atmosphere.
